How Is A Lead Defined?

A lead, also called a prospect, can be defined in two ways: A lead can be someone who requests additional information directly from you about your organization and the services you provide. Leads can also be obtained from information provided to you by a third party such as a lead provider or a survey questionnaire. A contact becomes a lead once they have confirmed that they are interested in the business, product or service you are marketing. The most common types of leads are Cold Market Leads and Warm Market Leads.

Cold Market Leads are contacts you have gained from a third party source, such as a lead providing company, surveys, or even word of mouth from colleagues and strangers. Cold Leads are often more difficult to present your business to because many people are skeptical of unknown sources. Ensure your Cold Market Leads are from a legitimate Network Marketing recruiting company or Network Marketing lead provider that uses proper methods to gain contact information.

A Warm Market Lead is a prospect that has contacted you directly to inquire about the business you represent. In some cases, it has been introduced to you by another business representative or a person you know directly such as a friend or a family member. Warm Market Leads are less resistant because they are already familiar with the business product or service you wish to market to them.

What Are Lead Sources and Network Marketing Lead Generation Techniques?

Both Warm Market Leads and Cold Market Leads can be generated from the same sources, such as a website form. Although the leads were generated using the same source method, the Network Marketing leads generation strategy for warm and cold leads differs in its technique.

Cold Market Leads are most likely generated through lead provider services which require you to purchase a set number of garnered lead or contact information. These leads can be generated through the electronic/online form and the paper/letter form.

Warm market lead generation can take place online or offline through several different entry points. Online entry points may include email campaigns, online "contact me" forms, and newsletter subscription forms. Offline entry points may include newspaper ads, friends and family, business cards, trade shows and referrals from other business associates.

Network Marketing Recruiting Tips

Network marketing recruiting is not an easy task because it involves planning and research. There are different recommended recruiting methods when you work with both Cold Marketing Leads and Warm Marketing Leads. Here are some important Network Marketing recruiting tips that may be able to help you when working with both types of leads:

  • Ensure that your leads originate from a legitimate resource. If you are purchasing leads from a lead provider, be sure to check the company's contact information gathering practices and policies.  A legitimate lead company will be able to give you specific details on where they gain contact information. Avoid companies that have been in business for less than two years and that do not provide information on their lead sources.  Also, make sure the lead company guarantees their leads.  Lead companies should be willing to provide you with replacement leads if you receive leads with incomplete or invalid contact information.

  • When purchasing leads, avoid purchasing the cheaper bulk lead packages. These leads are often old leads that have already been sold to others or may contain expired or invalid contact information. Look for Real Time or Live Lead packages. These leads are new leads, usually less than 48 hours old, have valid contact information and have not been sold to several other people. These leads are often more expensive ($2 to $5 dollars per lead is average) but are of higher quality leads and are more likely to give you better acquisition/conversion results. With lead purchasing, it is also true that "you get what you pay for".

  • Leads that you generate yourself will be even more viable than Real Time Leads purchased from a lead provider. Online and Offline advertising is a good investment
    when done properly.

  • Before you begin marketing offline or online, do your homework. Researching the best avenues for marketing is the key. Find out who your target audiences are and what your target market is interested in because you can advertise with sources that might trigger their interest.

  • An online presence is a must for Network Marketing leads generation. There are many companies that offer services to give you an online presence, generate email marketing campaigns and to manage your Network Marketing leads once you acquire them.

  • Using Network Marketing Contact Management software or a Network Marketing database is key to managing your leads as the list grows.
